Follow me on:
When I was in kindergarten, I declared that when I grew up I was going to be a children’s book illustrator.
So I began doodling.
I doodled my way through high school, Northwestern University, and The American Academy of Art.
I doodled my way into being the staff illustrator at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide—drawing dancing tacos, singing pets and lots of other fun stuff.
I doodled and designed my way into Microsoft’s Sidewalk.com and subsequently an internet start-up called Mercata.com.
I doodled my way into the greeting card industry to become the illustrator for The Red Hat Society’s first official licensed greeting card line and then doodled onward to develop another card line of my own.
And now, I’m doodling in the world of children’s books—and alongside my very own children.
It’s taken some time and a whole lot of doodling, but I’m now where I said I wanted to be…and I love it as much as I thought I would.
